Meet the Owner, Bobby Jameson MS, OTR/L CHT
As the founder and owner of Hands-in-Harmony, I bring a unique background to the field of Occupational Therapy. Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History from West Virginia University and a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Towson University, my academic journey has been shaped by a passion for understanding diverse aspects of human development. My goal is to aid and inspire individuals to live their best lives by engaging in activities that bring them joy and meaning.
My professional journey began at a non-profit organization, The Focus Foundation, where I dedicated five years to supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and XXY. During this time, I co-authored articles in peer-reviewed journals, aided in the administration of pediatric assessments, and led social skills groups, gaining valuable insights into the nuances of developmental challenges in children.
Transitioning into the realm of education, I served as an early intervention public school special education teacher, specializing in working with non-verbal children aged 2-5. Adept at implementing the TEACH program, and individualizing curriculum, I managed student cases and collaborated with speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists.
My commitment to continuous learning led me to obtain a Master’s in Occupational Therapy, opening up new avenues in pediatric care. I applied my skills at a private OT and Speech pediatric clinic in Arlington, VA, where I evaluated and developed plans of care for children with various disabilities, including learning disabilities, ASD, ADHD, Developmental Delay, dyspraxia, and sensory processing disorders. At this clinic I utilized Interactive Metronome, Therapeutic Listening, Astronaut Training, ILS, ALERT program, Multimatrix and Brain gym modalities as well as modified Floortime techniques for problem solving and social development.
After starting a family and relocating, I transitioned into the specialized field of upper extremity and hand rehabilitation. I acquired extensive knowledge of the anatomy and rehabilitation of the upper limb and became a certified hand therapist. In this setting I worked with children and adults with complex upper extremity injuries, as well as traumatic brain injury, stroke, intellectual disabilities, and visual processing disorders. This unique journey has equipped me with a holistic understanding of the educational setting, evaluation, and research, rehabilitation complexities, and the intricacies of upper limb care.
Beyond my occupational therapy pursuits, I am a professional multi-instrumentalist musician, accomplished singer, songwriter, and composer. Regular gigs, rehearsals and music lessons are integral parts of my life, adding a creative dimension that enriches my approach to occupational therapy.
At Hands-in-Harmony, I am dedicated to applying this rich tapestry of experiences to provide comprehensive occupational therapy services. My goal is to address the diverse needs of both children requiring assistance in fine motor control, gross motor control, sensory integration, socialization, play, enhancing school-based learning, emotional regulation, activities of daily living (ADLs) and upper extremity rehabilitation, as well as adults requiring upper extremity rehabilitation. With a unique background in complex hand and upper extremity injuries as well as pediatrics, I am committed to promoting optimal development and quality of life for every client I serve.
